Winter is Coming
And this was my first clue. Nothing like looking forward to crawling into a cozy bed only to find the best spots taken by furry things. I especially like how Gabby got herself tucked in so nicely. The pillow on her head is a nice touch. Today was the day to turn on the propane heater. According to Dad, it'll be easier to heat up the house if it doesn't have to start from 40 degrees all the time. Good point there, Dad! And I will admit it's nice to come home to a house that doesn't require a hat and gloves until the fire heats up. I doubt it'll keep the critters out of my bed but you can't have it all.
I did get a ride in this morning and I'm aiming to see if I can alter my schedule to allow a morning ride. It'd have to go like this:
5:00 Rise and shine, put on riding clothes: throw hay
5:15 Drink two cups of coffee and eat two bowls of cereal
6:00 Sun rise: Saddle up and ride one hour
7:00 Clean up, drive to work
Ya know, when you write it down like that it seems like it'd work?? Humm. We shall see. I don't think I can afford any Musco lights at the moment (roof needs work) but getting up early is do-able. With coffee, anything is possible!

Hey R-how did your dog get all covered up like that? It is picture perfect. I vote for at least 2 work from home days. They say productivity goes up 40% for work from home people...oh, and that roof that needs work? Kevin helped us with ours and has done his own and others too. Just a thought. Hi there Cathy! The dog got herself in there--she's really good at it. She squiggles under the covers, circles a bit and pushes things with her nose to get it just right. It's annoying to find her in the bed like that but it's hard not to laugh.
Kevin does roofing? Hummm. I've got a big,gnarly roof....wonder if he'd be up for that?
oh yeah, and he is tall and strong, and good looking and quiet, and he loves to ride bikes, and well, i bet he would trade you some bike rifing opportunities and dinners for some roof work. really. Invite his daughter out to play with Red and get that boy in some jeans and a tool belt up on your roof! Sounds like fun to me....
You know, it does sound like you could make the whole riding in the morning thing work. When do you hit the office? 9:00? Tons o time if you consider the fact that we're all tempted to go to bed at 7:00pm in this arctic darkness.
I highly recommend the insulated, one piece canvas duck barn suit for those super early quick dashes to the barn. Jump into that suit, pull on your zip front winter riding boots, and it isn't a big deal to go throw a little hay before Java-fying yourself. They even work right over your pajamas or work clothes! Dirt and odors are kept two layers of canvas and thinsulate away from your presentable threads with just the simplest application of outerwear! Isn't that just a spanking good endorsement?
Zo! It sounds like you have a candidate for some "roofing." *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* When does that project get underway?
Sara, I think you need to write a "ladies farm manual." One chapter solely on dressing for the elements. I'd buy that book.
Cathy, I think even my roof might be too much for Kevin, but maybe he could help me build out my tack room? Humm. Look out Kevin, your chore list is growing. C, am I telling him or are you? ;)
R-I would be more than thrilled to call Kevin. Ladies in distress, and all that. But don't forget what good hard work and a little sweaty earth on you can produce. Right! Dinner. And you know what that can lead to...I have noticed a calmer gleam in his eye lately, and really, could anyone look nicer in a pair of Levis? He does need some good italian cooking in him, but I am getting waaay ahead of myself...hope to see you soon! Cathy
If I did write such a book, it would have a bit on the import of a really excellent hooded sweatshirt! Thanks for the excellent hoodie!! I got the package when I got home from work and wore it all night. Mike wouldn't let me wear it to bed! It's so dreamy and soft and it fits so nicely and I absolutely lurrrve that wide elastic bottom. It is my new favorite garment. I wanted to wear it to work today but thought better about taking casual Friday over the top. Besides, now I can look forward to wearing it all weekend! Thanks a zillion!
Geeez, disregard the bike rifing (some kind of bike with a rifle?) and replace with bike riding-you know, the healthy trekking kind...better spell check next time.
