Horse Powwow

The large, black critter in the photo is Kiddman, the newest addition to the farm. He's a 5 year old percheron/arab cross and just as goofy as Oscar, only bigger. Here is Oz, Kiddo and Beep who made a grand entrance to the horse sniffing party. She walked over and peed a whole bunch. Twice.

Why yes, Oscar is a white horse, thank you very much. He 'd taken a nice dirt bath just before Kiddman arrived.

Here's a shot of Kiddman and his proud owner,
Meaghan.

In other news, I turned off the heat lamp in the chicken coop and shut off the tank heater on the water trough. I guess that means it's spring??

Big day today; the team is arriving and tomorrow is the photo shoot. I'll get a few photos of that as it's always entertaining. Real photographers, real make up artists, and real milk mustache. Yum!

Hiya! How nice to see all the body parts attached and while there is lotsa brown, there is no red.

It looks like it is going to be a fantastic weekend for goofing with horses. Got plans?

You MUST send pictures ASAP - of all the single team members. Anthony cant wait to come up.... and he wants to meet them. He also (laughingly) suggests they each make a presentation listing individual goals, attributes, and aspirations. I thought a chorus line or profile skit would suffice. AND we want to see an actual RACE!
OMAGOSH! WIll I finally get to see a RACE?

P.S. What is that black horsie doing there and whatever happened to "Rosie" ?

Yes to horsie fun this weekend; got in a good ride on Oz today except he was a little off on his right front. Gee, perhaps some horseplay? Humm??

Rosie didn't pass her vet check so Meaghan got Kiddo, who I liked much better. He's sweet, young and trainable.

It was 65 today--Sara, did you ride Jimmy horse?

Wellllll... This weekend, I did spend a lot of time with Jimmy. So much, in fact, that riding did not come into play. After the long winter of equine inactivity, we needed brushing up on other vital skills like: standing tied (one rope broken) leading (one human calf and heel bruised by colt jumping about like spaz), grooming (horse falls to ground during bout of sheer exstasy during withers currying). We did manage to do some longeing and he did remarkably well all things considered. This week, I'll pull out the real tack and pads and get into that frame of mind.

Ben rode Cowboy and had his first real canter (bareback with just a halter and leadrope downhill to the barn - the stinker) Ben loved it! I think I'll have to pull that pony's tack out too. Ben just doesn't have the muscle to keep the pony honest without a bit. He is a good, good pony to come to a very gentle stop outside the barn but a naughty one indeed for skedaddling. I guess that's how we know he's a good kids' horse.
